Ever since the upgrade to OS X Yosemite, I have hated the Mac. They ruined the greatest user interface of all time and made it theirs. They took what was already great and functional and turned it into a mess.
Let me explain.
When I first bought a Mac, it was running Mountain Lion, and when Mavericks was introduced at WWDC 2013 I was literally jumping for joy and was so happy when the day came that I could upgrade. But when they came out with Yosemite, I wanted to die inside.
I was reluctant to upgrade. I hated it. It was all monochromatic, Apple style. No more shiny window commands, no more fancy menu bar, and no more Lucida Grande. It was all gone. To remodeled and replaced with Helvetica Neue and a horrible blurred translucency operating system. It was very iOS, and I hated that too. I loved iOS 6 and then they came out with 7.
When Apple came out with Yosemite, that’s when I threw in the towel. Apple had won. They had told me how my computer should look and why I should like it that way. The next day after the announcement, I downloaded Windows 7 and installed it to a bootcamp partition. I never used OS X regularly again.
But today, I installed Mavericks to my MacBook Pro which (up until yesterday) had been running El Capitan. I feel home again. I am going to do the same thing to Mavericks that Windows XP users are doing with Windows XP. I am not leaving. I love it.
While I do love Mavericks, I am planning on purchasing a standalone PC running Windows 10. But this MacBook Pro will run Mavericks until the day it dies. And I will be using Mavericks until I get this new PC.
I want the old OS X back.
